Today, Global Load Control’s Cape Town team honoured Mandela Day 2025 in true GLC spirit, with sleeves rolled up and hearts wide open.
In just 67 minutes, the team prepared over 200 sandwiches, which were delivered to the Realistic Child & Youth Care Centre in Zwartdam. The centre is a registered child and youth care facility that provides a safe, supportive environment for vulnerable children and young people in need of care and protection.
But the day didn’t end there. After the delivery, our colleagues spent the afternoon with the children, sharing laughs, stories, and even playing a lively game of football on the field. The kids loved the interaction and having visitors spend time with them, and our team walked away deeply moved by the experience.
Why 67 Minutes?
Mandela Day, observed globally on 18 July, encourages individuals to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to community service. This represents the 67 years Nelson Mandela spent fighting for justice, equality, and human rights, including 27 years in prison and 40 years as a lawyer, activist, and peacemaker.
As the Mandela Day movement reminds us: “If he gave 67 years, we can give 67 minutes.”
A Legacy of Service
We are proud to be part of this global call to action and to continue making a difference. One sandwich, one smile, one team effort at a time.
Thank you, Madiba, for showing us the power of service, unity and hope.
