Together for a Cleaner Future: GLC Celebrates World Cleanup Day 2024

At GLC (Global Load Control), sustainability is one of our core values. This year marked our second time participating in World Cleanup Day, a powerful global initiative aimed at addressing the waste crisis and promoting sustainable practices.

Making an Impact, One Cleanup at a Time
World Cleanup Day continues to grow as a movement, with its recent recognition as part of the United Nations’ International Days calendar. In 2023, the initiative united 13.7 million people from 198 countries, collectively removing 219,000 tonnes of waste. By activating 5% of the global population, the goal is to inspire lasting behaviour changes to combat mismanaged waste.

This year, GLC colleagues in Cape Town, joined by their families, once again took to Queens Beach for a cleanup. With gloves, bags, and a shared sense of responsibility, our team made a tangible difference in preserving this beautiful environment.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Community
Our participation reflects GLC’s commitment to sustainability and social upliftment, extending beyond our role as a leading provider of remote aviation services. We believe that small actions, repeated consistently, can create significant change.

Alongside our efforts, Lufthansa Group colleagues, also participated in cleanups at various sites between September 18–20. These combined efforts showcase the power of collaboration in tackling global challenges and reaffirm that we’re truly #StrongerTogether.

Join the Movement
A heartfelt thank you to our Cape Town team and all who participated this year! Your dedication contributes to a #WasteFreeWorld and a brighter future for our communities.

Let’s continue working toward a cleaner, greener planet.
