GLC Hosts the 33rd FM User Conference in Cape Town

This week, GLC (Global Load Control) proudly hosted the 33rd FM User Group (FMUG) Conference at our offices in Cape Town. The event welcomed representatives from 26 airlines worldwide for three engaging days of collaboration, innovation, and discussions about the future of Amadeus Altea FM technology.

A Global Leader in Remote Aviation Services
As the world’s leading supplier of remote aviation services, GLC provides much more than centralised load control. FMUG attendees had the opportunity to witness the scope of our expertise firsthand, exploring how we deliver seamless, end-to-end support for airlines globally.

Highlights included:

  • Centralised Load Control (CLC): Our expert agents showcased how they ensure accurate and efficient flight planning to optimise safety, fuel usage, and on-time performance.
  • Special Service Requests (SSR) Team: This team demonstrated how they review and approve passenger-specific requests—such as excess baggage or special cargo—ensuring compliance with aircraft and aviation regulations. By streamlining check-in and ramp processes, they support smooth operations and minimise disruptions.
  • Remote Business Centre (RBC): The RBC team highlighted their critical role in streamlining airport check-in by managing ancillary services like excess baggage ticketing and providing vital support during irregular operations, including optimised passenger re-bookings during disruptions.

These live demonstrations offered attendees a holistic view of how GLC integrates services to support airlines and passengers efficiently and effectively.

Fostering Innovation and Collaboration
The FMUG Conference agenda featured thought-provoking presentations, interactive sessions, and community-driven discussions. Airline representatives presented improvement proposals, with the most-voted ideas set to be implemented by Amadeus, who actively participated in the event. Key topics included customer satisfaction management, the future of FM technology, and innovative strategies for enhancing flight management systems.

Airlines in Attendance
The conference welcomed leading airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Air New Zealand, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa Group, Qantas Airways, Turkish Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, SAS, Airlink, Condor, Finnair, and many others, fostering meaningful connections and collaborative discussions.

Showcasing GLC’s Expertise
A standout moment of the event was giving our airline partners a close-up look at GLC’s world-class operations. From the precision of our centralised load control team to the specialised capabilities of our SSR and RBC teams, attendees experienced the full scope of GLC’s industry-leading remote aviation services. This transparency strengthened relationships and underscored the value we bring to airline operations worldwide.

Looking Ahead
The 33rd FMUG Conference was a resounding success, reflecting the importance of collaboration and innovation in advancing aviation technology and operations. A special thank you to our GLC team, Amadeus, and every airline representative who contributed to this exceptional event. Together, we’re redefining the standards of remote aviation services and shaping the future of the industry.
